My cat is very, very loud. He’s more of a “come pay attention to me, ho bag” meow-er. Needy needy.

When I had Francis she knew when she was being naughty. She would jump up on the table and the counters in my apartment — which she was not supposed to do — and look at me as if challenging me to stop her. When I would stand up and come toward her, she’d jump down and shoot off to the bedroom, where she hid under the bed. I concluded that cats are very capable of being trained. They are just more likely than dogs not to listen.

Usually we’re really good at making sure he’s outside when we’re both going to bed at the same time. This week it’s been markedly more difficult because Zack has been coming home from work at 3 a.m. and he’s been letting the cat in (either accidentally or otherwise) when he comes home. He has a real soft spot for Cruz. Probably lets him in so that he can have a little midnight snack not realizing that it’s going to be a veritable Meow Mix Symphony outside the bedroom door a few hours later, while he’s so zonked that he can’t hear it.

it used to be that I’d get home and my cat would come over, say hello, then meander over to the balcony door and start mewing to be let out (so he could roll around and cover himself in dirt and then come back inside and rub it all over the couch). Recently, though, he’s been skipping the formalities, so when I get home, he IMMEDIATELY runs over to the balcony door, “Mewmewmewmew, let me out or I’ll bite your calves.”

you should let him out before you go to bed? or then would he whine from outside?
