Zack and I went out to lunch this afternoon with his parents for his birthday. That’s not crucially important to this story, but he doesn’t really like it when I tell people about his birthday. And so, naturally, I feel compelled to do it. Happy Birthday, Zack.
After lunch, we headed over to the waterfall on the Trinity River. It’s been raining here in North Texas for about 36 hours, so we thought the water levels might be impressive. We were totally right. The falls, which last week had slowed to a mere trickle, were blasting off the banks with a force that created nice spray/mist in the air. Whereas Zack and I usually kick off our shoes and wade around in the water a bit, this time we kept our distance. The water was powerful and turbulent. It was pretty awesome. I snapped a few pictures with my phone so you could see it, too.

This is the post I wrote about the falls this spring, so you can see the difference between the water levels.
